About the event
Ron Anthony plays mostly original songs delivered with a smooth baritone voice and an unusual acoustic-guitar style that simultaneously combines flat picking and finger picking (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abfaFTkUQTw). Ron has performed extensively throughout the northeast at songwriters’ showcases and open mics, shared the stage with other national-caliber artists, and is a past winner of the Connecticut Blues Society’s Best-Solo-Blues-Artist award.
John Brown is well known across southern and eastern Connecticut as a solo artist and as the leader and principal songwriter of the band Back-Porch Pickers; he also forms half of the duo Whiskey & Aspirin. While overall John plays a mix of traditional country and classic rock tunes, his solo work focuses mostly on heartfelt originals--songs that reflect on the continuing trials and tribulations of life in all its stages (see: Back Porch Pickers / "I Wrote It In A Song" - YouTube).
Paul Loether is an “Old-School”-style folksinger and fingerstyle guitarist whose expressive vocals cover a broad range of traditional and contemporary folk music. His usually topical originals are well-crafted and often feature pointed and/or humorous lyrics. Paul has performed as a solo artist throughout much of southern New England and the Washington, DC, area; for many years, he was a lead vocalist, guitarist, and stand-up bass player for the Maryland-based band Silver Strings MD (see: https://youtu.be/vWHgvfJ4cTI).
