About the event
We are musical explorers, seekers of song, and far flung travelers. Lämning is about using music as a universal human language, spanning tongues, time, culture, and history. Our sound is rooted in Scandinavian and early European music, but reflects our own musical backgrounds and omnivorous appetites. We seek to resurrect echoes of our shared human past through music, in languages living and long dead.
Jordan Cavalier is a multi-instrumentalist with musical roots in Scandinavian folk, but with a wide-ranging love for global folk traditions. His primary instruments are the nyckelharpa and the oktavharpa (the bass version of the nyckelharpa), as well as the talharpa and hammered dulcimer.
Jeremy Graeff is musically omnivorous and insatiably curious about finding new songs. He is excited by the prospects of curating a song repertoire that spans geographically from the North Sea to the Silk Road as well as temporally from the Medieval period to present.
