About the event
On Saturday night May 20, 2023, from 7-9 pm, “old-school-style” folk singer/songwriter Paul Loether returns for his fourth appearance on the stage of Nightingale’s Acoustic Café in Old Lyme, CT. Known for his expressive vocals and his adept combination of Elizabeth Cotton and Travis-style fingerpicking, Paul covers a broad range of traditional and contemporary folk artists—from Stephen Foster, Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs, and Tom Paxton, to Bill Staines, Nanci Griffith, John McCutcheon, Dave Mallett, and Carrie Newcomer. His usually topical originals feature well-crafted and often pointed/humorous lyrics (see link below). Paul is known as a solo artist throughout much of southern New England and the Chesapeake Bay area, as well as a former lead vocalist, stand-up bass player, and guitarist for the metro-Washington, DC, band Silver Strings MD.
