About the event
Over the past three-and-a-half decades, Paul Loether has become known across Connecticut, Rhode Island, and the Baltimore/Washington, DC, area as a left-handed, “Pete Seeger-style” folksinger, songwriter, songfinder, and storyteller. In addition to his solo performances, from 1998-2007, Paul performed as a founding member of the Farmington, CT-based duo (later trio) Bookends; from 2009-2018, he was a founding member, lead vocalist, stand-up bass player, and guitarist for the popular Washington, DC, area band, Silver Strings MD. His expressive vocals and "melded" Elizabeth Cotton/Merle Travis/Maybelle Carter-style guitar fingerpicking cover of a wide array of traditional and contemporary folk artists—from Stephen Foster, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs, and Tom Paxton, to Bill Staines, Nanci Griffith, John McCutcheon, Carrie Newcomer, Guy Clark, and Townes Van Zandt. His usually topical originals feature clever, well-crafted, and often humorous lyrics (see: The Ballad of Doug Hughes). All sales proceeds from Paul's two most recent CD's--Late Night…
