You Don’t Have to Fret - Exploring Open String Chords
Time & Location
May 28, 2022, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Nightingale's Acoustic Cafe, 68 Lyme St, Old Lyme, CT 06371, USA
About the event
Whether you’re playing in the “open position” or using barre chords, the guitar can start to sound repetitive and boring, especially in a group where everyone is playing the same thing. Open string chords are a great way to make your accompaniment sound more interesting and to set yourself apart in a group.
In this workshop we’ll learn many easy to play open string chords. We’ll explore ways to convert common chords into open string chords so you can find new ones on your own. Finally, we’ll apply these chords to a few example songs. You’ll have your instrument in hand the whole time applying what you are learning.
You’ll leave the workshop with all chord progressions and chord diagrams we cover so you can use them in the future.
Level: For advanced beginner or intermediate musicians with an open mind about music. Some familiarity with basic chords and scales is required. No need to read music notation required.
